FAQs

  • What is FOIA?
  • FOIA is the Freedom of Information Act. It provides that any citizen can get a copy of public records by filling out a form and requesting that the village copy and provide those records. The village is allowed a specific amount of time during which they respond to the petitioner’s request. The petitioner is responsible for costs incurred to gain the information, however, those costs are minimal and are limited to the cost of copies.

FOIA forms can be obtained at the agency from which the request is being made (village hall, school board offices, park office, etc.)

  • Why does CUinFP record meetings?
  • As Illinois law requires only that minutes of public meetings be kept, CUinFP records meetings to have a full and accurate record of items discussed, any requests, approvals, denials, ordinances, resolutions, etc., that affect the Village of Forest Park. CUinFP then transfers the video footage to DVD to make them available for purchase to any person wishing to obtain a copy.

CUinFP records Plan Commission, Village Council, Zoning Board of Appeals and most recently Park Board meetings. The Council, Zoning Board and Plan Commission meeting archives date to January 2, 2004. Park meeting recordings just began in May 2005. For more information or to purchase a DVD, please contact us at: purchase@cuinfp.org

  • Where and when can I see the meeting agendas prior to the meeting?
  • Village code requires that all agendas be posted at Village Hall a minimum of 48 hours prior to said meeting. Typically the agendas are posted by close of business on the Friday preceding the meeting. Agendas are also available through the Internet at either www.forestpark.net (drop down menu – click on "Village" then on “Council”, then on “Meeting agenda archive”), or at forestparkforums.com (click on “Meetings, announcements, events”, then click on "Meeting Agendas").

  • When can public comment be made at meetings?
  • Public comment only takes place at the beginning of the Village Council meetings. During Village Council meetings people are limited to 3 minutes of speaking time. At the Zoning Board of Appeals and Plan Commission meetings public comment is only allowed if an actual public hearing is taking place. The ZBA and Plan Commission have not established a maximum length for comments and public comment takes place after the proposal has been presented to the commissioners. Park Board meetings have no established maximum time period.

  • What is CUinFP all about?
  • Please see our mission statement from the About Us page.

  • How do I join CUinFP?
  • Please see our membership page:  Membership Application

  • When does CUinFP meet, and where?
  • CUinFP meets at 7:00 pm the 4th Thursday of every other month. Unless otherwise, noted for special meetings or presentations, CUinFP meets at St. Peter’s Church on the corner of Hannah & Adams in Forest Park.
